22nd Annual Great
White North Pumpkin Fair & Weigh-off!
Saturday,
Oct. 2nd, 2010!
Smoky Lake is
home to one of the largest pumpkin festivals in North
America!
This large event takes
place on the first Saturday in October bringing
thousands of people to town. In fact, the population grows
to five times its normal size, just for that one day! Great
Pumpkin competitors haul their gourds to Smoky Lake from
across BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan – all for the chance to
be crowned the heaviest pumpkin, squash or watermelon.
Last year's first place pumpkin was grown by John Lobay and
weighed in at 1199.2 lbs. or 543.9 kgs. This is now our site
record.
